Waveski surfing

Waveski surfing is a dynamic sport combining the paddle power of a sit on top kayak with the manoeuvrability and performance of a surfboard. A Waveski resembles a larger surfboard, with the addition of a seat, fins, foot straps, and seat belt, enabling the rider to eskimo roll if overturned. The waveski rider or waveski surfer uses a double ended kayak paddle for motion while seated in the waveski. Photographed in South Africa.

Cape cormorants

The Cape cormorant or Cape shag (Phalacrocorax capensis) is a seabird endemic to the southwestern coasts of Africa. They breed in large aggregations on offshore islands and the mainland, with nests constructed from seaweed, stems and sticks. Both parents feed the chick, regurgitating food (fish) directly into its open mouth. Photographed in Bettys Bay, South Africa.

Zanzibar is a semi-autonomous region of Tanzania in East Africa. It is composed of the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean, 25–50 kilometres (16–31 mi) off the coast of the mainland, and consists of many small islands and two large ones: Unguja (the main island, referred to informally as Zanzibar) and Pemba. The capital is Zanzibar City, located on the island of Unguja. Its historic centre is Stone Town, which is a World Heritage Site.
