![]() | Gymea Lily Life Cycle Doryanthes excelsa, known as Gymea Lily, is a flowering plant indigenous to the coastal areas of New South Wales near Sydney. The plant has sword-like leaves more than a meter long. It flowers in spring and summer, sending up a flower spike up to 6 m high, which at its apex bears a large cluster of bright red flowers, each 10 cm across. This series, showing a whole flower head from unopened, through the opening of all flowers; then dying and drying, took six weeks. |

![]() | Ethnic Villages Bolaven Plateau Laos Daily life in ethnic villages on the Bolaven Plateau Laos, home to the Katu, Nge, Katang and other Mon Khmer ethnic groups. Harvested grain, chillies, peanuts and maize are dried outside on mats. The Katang weave and maintain their traditions practicing both animism, shamanism and buffalo sacrifice. The Katu uniquely carve wooden coffins well before an expected death and store them under their houses or rice sheds. The government has provided schools, electricity and water pumps to some villages. Stilt palm and thatch houses are built from ratten and wood. |

The Christian concept shifted between the angel as a messenger of God and a manifestation of God himself. The physical appearance of angels varies, but many are depicted in human form. Although a popular belief is that angels were once human beings, most major religions deny such a view, and this position is held only by Latter Day Saints and the Baha'i Faith. |
