Creative images of people, places and things

Thanks for visiting my stock photography catalogue. My aim is to offer stock images that don't look like stock images. Please explore the links and enjoy the photography.

Most of my images have a human touch: images of children and adults, emotions and relationships, work and leisure, travel and tourism, culture and concepts.

I travel quite a lot and have images from Europe, particularly Sweden, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Germany and the UK. My US images are from California, Death Valley, Utah and Las Vegas.

If you want a survey of all my images, just click Complete Collection on the right. You will find a selection of my images by clicking Photographer Portfolio.

For specific subjects, take a look at my Themed Lightboxes and Gallery Exhibits to the right.

You can use keywords to search for specific images in the New Stock Photo Search box. Use the All Keywords or Exact Phrase options.

All images are available for immediate licensing for any reasonable purpose. Please understand that all images are copyright protected and that there is a fee for any use, but if you just want a photo for your personal blog, contact me. I am sure we can come to an agreement.

I am of course also open to any requests for photo assignments.

If I can be of any assistance, or you would like to discuss your requirements with me first, please use the Contact link to the right to email me.

Winning image

10/20/2017 4:09:55 PM

A monochrome version of this image, taken on a dull and rainy day in Copenhagen, Denmark, won first prize in the monthly competition in our photo club. I only took a few photos but had to wait a while for the right moment. I was lucky to get the right distance between the two persons. The white horses at Christiansborg Palace belong to one of the few royal stables in Europe. The horses and the state coaches are used by the Queen and the royal family for special occasions such as weddings and state visits.

The decisive moment

10/11/2014 2:33:07 PM

I was lucky enough to take this photo in exactly the right fraction of a second. The decisive moment is an expression associated with the French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson, a pioneer in so-called street photography. My image shows a decisive moment both for my camera and for the game of cricket that I photographed. Read more under News at

During a three-hour walk on a rainy afternoon in Naples, Italy, I met a lot of nice and interesting people like this young couple.

Romantic young couple in Italy

5/9/2014 10:50:55 AM

This young couple was visiting a fascinating old castle in northern Italy but they had more eyes for each other than for the interesting historic environment. Fascinated by their affection for each other I asked if I could photograph them.

In Plato's Cave

4/23/2014 3:07:03 PM

In the 1970s Susan Sontag wrote a few essays for The New York Times about photography. They were later published in her book On Photography. Sontag was an American writer and filmmaker whose work also had political, often controversial, influence. Her essays on photography have become classic literature. You can read my reflections on the first essay, In Plato's Cave, in my blog at

Camera Lucida

3/14/2014 10:41:49 AM

One of the most important books on photography was written by the French philosopher Roland Barthes. Newsweek's Douglas Davis wrote, "This is a great book - flawed, impossible, infuriating, and moving..." To those words I add "indeed personal, moving and well worth reading - and re-reading". You can read my reflections on the book in my blog.

New Lightbox: Senior citizens

2/28/2014 4:53:24 AM

Senior citizens nowadays are generally active (some say even more active) after retirement. Social activity – doing things together – contributes to the well-being of the elderly (as well as to those of other ages).

Photo Book review

2/27/2014 2:55:55 AM

My blog entry looks at The Photography Book, an introduction to 500 well known and not so well known photographers, each represented by one image. There is a brief analysis of each image with cross-references to other photographers working in the same field or style. The book also includes glossaries of technical terms and of movements, groups and genres as well as a comprehensive directory of museums and galleries around the world. An excellent reference book!

8/23/2013 1:50:14 PM

This little town has more than a million visitors every year. In 1981 the Virgin Mary reportedly showed herself in an apparition to six young people. Now pilgrims from all over the world walk the rocky path of Krizevac, the Mount of the Cross, some of them barefoot. The pilgrims have also caused a business boom with new property developments, hotels and shops.

What's in a face?

3/26/2013 7:26:50 AM

Recently I posted an image and started a discussion on Linkedin about keywording. I asked what keywords came to mind when people saw this image. The answers represented a very broad spectrum of words ranging from coy and pensive to defiant and petulant. All faces have the same few elements, two eyes, a nose and a mouth, and yet each face is unique and each face can reveal a mutitude of manifestations of attitudes and emotions. I find this intriguing and it is certainly a challenge when thinking up keywords. Comments are welcome!

Computer gaming assignment

12/8/2012 7:30:48 AM

Through GlobalEyeImages I was asked by a US computer gaming company to cover their team's participation in the Heroes of Newerth tournament at DreamHack Winter 2012 in Jonkoping, Sweden. DreamHack holds the Guinness Book of Records world record as the largest LAN festival. The assignment involved six hours of shooting over three days to cover the whole festival as well as follow the team. This was highly interesting but also challenging due to poor lighting conditions and the fact that I could not use flash in order not to disturb the players. The client's verdict on my job was "extremely professional". The fact that the team won the tournament was a pleasant addition to the experience!
